Dow, Bullock Creek cheer teams advance to regionals

This past Saturday, the Dow High competitive cheer team advanced to Division 1 regionals by placing second out of 14 teams at the district competition at Davison.
Dow was in first place after round 1, third place after round 2, and finished strong in round 3 to take the runner-up spot with 717.4576 behind Davison's first-place score of 723.5868.

In its previous six meets this season, Bay City Central failed to put together a clean third round. And although they came in second to Mt Pleasant in Wednesday's SVL Championship, they did so in record-setting fashion.

SANFORD -- Dow High's competitive cheer team took first, Bay City Western second and Midland High third in Division 1-2 at Tuesday's Mustang Cheer Corral hosted by Meridian.
In Division 3-4, Houghton Lake took first, Harrison second and Meridian third.
In the junior varsity division, Harrison took first, followed by Midland, Houghton Lake, Dow and Bay City Western.
Nineteen teams competed at the event.

Midland Bullock Creek squeaked by Merrill 702-698 in the TVC Championship meet in Carrollton.
Bullock Creek took less than a one-point lead into the final round before outscoring Merrill 299.8-296.3.
Freeland (663.6), Ovid-Elsie (648.9) and Chesaning (645.2) finished third through fifth, repectively.
