The Trojans won their football opener against Midland Dow 18-13 in coach Mike Colbert's first as head coach. The Trojans have already matched last years win total after rallying in the fourth quarter and holding on for the win in Saginaw Valley league action.
After a scoreless first quarter, Travontis Richardson picked off a pass and raced almost the length of the field for a 95 yard touchdown carrying the Trojans to a 6-0 halftime advantage. Saginaw High's defense tallied three interceptions on the night.
Dow QB Brennan Miller put the Chargers up on a 1 yard dash into the endzone in the third quarter, 7-6.
Trojan Jeffrey Hill ran for a 10 yard TD to give them back the lead early in the fourth quarter 12-7. Lucas Bourelle scored wth just under five minutes to put the Chargers back on top 13-12. Curtis Harris sealed the win for Saginaw High busting loose for a 49 yard run and followed it up with a 6 yard TD run.
Curtis Harris finished with 56 yards rushing and 1 TD, Keyon Addison added 52 yards. Travontis Richardson, Steve Roberts and Trevon Bentley notched an Interception for the Trojans.
Charger Lucas Bourelle tallied 101 yards rushing with 1 Touchdown, while Nick Johnson had 45. Matt Hus had 43 yards receiving.
Saginaw High has their home opener next Thursday against Midland High, while Midland High hosts Flint Northern.
