Arthur Hill Drops Season football Opener

Arthur Hill fell short in it's bid to win new head coach Will Luzar 's bedut with a 26-20 loss to Flint Southwestern on the road Thursday. Southwestern freshman running back John Anthony Fulgham busted loose for three touchdowns and 240 yards.

Southwestern scored on two running plays of 5 and 61 yards for a 14-0 first quarter lead. The Lumberjacks got within a touchdown when Mike Copes hit HalShaun Young on a 44 yard pass. The Lumberjacks trailed 14-7 at the half.

Copes sored on a 48 run in the second half but the Lumberjacks could not convert the PAT. Fulgham scampered in 44 yards to put the Knights up 20-13 at the end of three quarters.

Yenta Sanders scored on a 1 yard run to tie the game 20-20 but Fulgham broke free for a 65 yard TD run to seal the game for Southwestern, 26-20.

Mike Copes led the Lumberjacks with 69 yards rushing, 138 yards passing, 1 TD and 2 INT's.  Yenta Sanders ran for 67 yards and had 31 yards receiving, while HalShaun Young tallied 95 yards rushing with 1 TD.
