Midland High Falls to Mt. Pleasant in Football Opener

Midland High opened their football season on a sour note falling 21-7 to host Mt. Pleasant Thursday night in Saginaw Valley league action.

Dustin Lee romped in 70 yards for a TD for Mt. Pleasant to get things rolling in the first quarter followed by a 1 yard TD run by Michael Tweh. The Oilers led 13-0 at the half.

In the third quarter Oiler QB Ryan Elliott hooked up with Colton Odykirk for a 34-yard touchdown pass. The two re-connected for the two-point conversion for an Oiler 21-0 lead.

Chemic QB Paul Lynch tossed a 21 yard pass to Alec Moulton for a TD to get them on the board 21-7.

Lynch finished, completing 8 of 19 passes for 125 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT for Midland High. Avery Chatman had ran for 85 yards, while Alec Moulton caught 6 passes for 90 yards and 1 touchdown. David Walter led the defense with 11 tackles.

The Chemics travel to play Saginaw High next Thursday (Sept. 1).
