LINDEN — What Nouvel lacked at times in offensive fluidity it more than made up for with a defensive effort that left Lake Fenton with 11 points combined in the first and fourth quarters of a 50-35 road win Thursday.

The Panthers, who led 25-18 at halftime, were led by Taylor Hengesbach’s 12 points and 11 more from Rachel McInerny to go along with eight rebounds. Shelby Sawyer (nine rebounds), Baleigh Nichols (four points) and Nicole Buckingham (six points) provided a spark off the bench that proved vital to the win.

Mackenzie Gottron’s 14 points were a game-high for the Blue Devils, though she was the only member of her team to score in double-figures. Jordan Newman and Sidney Scott were next in line with six points apiece.
