ST. LOUIS — The home team played tough early on Tuesday, but Valley Lutheran's poise and experience made it tough for St. Louis later in a 68-24 victory.

Valley Lutheran (3-0) led after the first quarter 11-9, but outscored the Sharks, 57-15 the rest of the way, including a 27-point third quarter.

"We were playing with them in the first quarter," St. Louis coach Walter Berry said. "In some ways we looked a little faster. But the decision making took over. We started making bad decisions. (In the second half), we just kind of mentally didn't shot a lot of maturity."

Sarah Appold had 19 points to lead the Chargers. Becca Scherting added 17 points and Sam Shafer had 15 points as well for Valley Lutheran.

Taylor Smith and Amanda Corder each had seven points to lead St. Louis (1-1).
