SAGINAW — After starting off slow in the first quarter, Michigan Lutheran Seminary stuck to its game and pulled away with a 46-37 win over Standish-Sterling Tuesday night.
It was the season opener for both schools.
“They (Standish-Sterling) came out in a zone to begin the game and we hadn’t seen that yet so we were a little slow getting started,” MLS coach Terry Vasold said. “We kept pressuring the ball on defense and pushing it down the floor and eventually we wore them out in the fourth.”
Kailynn Lovett led the Cardinals with 11 points while Chloee King had a game-high 13 for Standish-Sterling
Both teams resume action Friday on the road. MLS is at Bay City All Saints while Standish-Sterling travels to Essexville Garber.
