The two time defending Division 2 State Champions Chargers won ALL 27 matches at the Grand Blanc tennis quad Wednesday. Dow tennis had never before acheived such a dominating performance, never even dropping a set along the way against against Grand Blanc, East Lansing and Troy Athens.
The Chargers return to action Friday against state power Birmingham Brother Rice at at 10 a.m. at home.
Dow hopes to make it three in a row returning eight of the twelve players from last year's championship team, including five who won state titles. One player with high hopes is Santi Guerra who won 30 consecutive matches to end the season last year winning the No. 2 singles state title. Guerra has won back-to-back state titles after winning the No. 3 singles crown in 2009.
Juli Guerra, the younger brother of Santi also returns. Juli won the No. 4 singles title last year as a freshman.
