Evan Chiplock, 17, who will enter Heritage High School as a senior this fall, destroyed the competition at the 36th Annual Frankenmuth Volkslaufe 5k run Monday morning. Chiplock, finished with a time of 15:58 easily outpacing runner-up Ron Zaywicki of Traverse City who finished at 16:46. He recently won the 3,200-meter run in the state finals and was 5th at the cross country finals last fall.
Brandon Scharich, also a runner at Heritage high School finished 4th in 16:59.
Oilling, of Breckenridge won the womens 5k run finishing in 18:47 beating runner-up Karie McDonald of Frankenmuth who finished at 19:01. Oilling similiarly had a great high school season winning Division 4 state championships in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs this past spring as well as the cross country state title last fall.
Jerome Recker of Port Huron won the men's 10k run (32:35) and Jen Rock of Macomb won the women's 10k (36:25).
Mike Morgan, 31, of Rochester Hills won the 20k run (1:05:05), while Marybeth Reader, 42, of Bloomfield Hills won the women’s race (1:20.46).
