Swan Valley Wins Football Regional Title by Defeating Kingsford 11-14-09

Swan Valley defeated Kingsford 35-21 at Northern Michigan University this afternoon. The Vikings made the long trip to the U.P and won the division 4 regional title. It took a second half comeback for the Vikings who trailed 21-14 at halftime. Jared Briguglio and Cody Call share the honors of leading the team to victory. Briguglio and Call both ran for 2-TDs and Call tossed a pass to Briguglio for the other TD.

Kingsford started things out jumping to a 6-0 lead, on a 79-yard run on the first play of the game at the line of scrimmage. Briguglio answered with a 2-yard rushing TD, Andy Collison added the PAT, 7-6 Vikings after one quarter.

Kingsford added another two more TDs in the second quarter. Cody Call answered this time on a 2-yard run of his own, Collison added the PAT. Kingsford took a 21-14 lead into the locker room.

The Vikings came out in the second half hungry for a win. Call ran in the only touchdown in the third quarter from 2-yards out to tie the game 21-21.

Briguglio scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Vikings. His first TD was on a 53-yard TD pass from Call. Briguglio finished the scoring on a 7-yard run, Collison added the PAT.

Jared Briguglio led the Vikings with 22-rushes for 174-yards and 2-TDs and added 1-reception for 53-yards and 1-TD. Matt Reardon added 12-carries for 110-yards. Cody Call finished with 3-completions on 5-passes for 79-yards and a TD, he also ran for 2-TDs. Collison added 5-PAT's.

The win advances the Vikings to a division 4 semi-final game with Three Rivers at East Kentwood High on Saturday at 1 p.m.
