St. Charles Takes Down Unbeaten Ithaca To Create A Three-way Tie for The TVC West Championship 10-16-09 ![]() St. Charles, playing at home took down previously unbeaten Ithaca to create a three-way tie for the championship in the TVC West division. Ithaca, St. Charles and Carrollton all sit on top of the division with a 7-1 overall record and finish with a 6-1 record in the TVC. St. Charles ran the ball 63 times for a whopping 493-yards and had three runners run for over 100-yards each. The Bulldogs only had one pass attempt the whole game. Alex Niznak got the scoring under way running in from 3-yards to put Ithaca on top early 7-0. St. Charles answered right back when Tyler Larsen scored on a 2-yard run, 7-7. In the second quarter St. Charles kicked it into high gear scoring three rushing TDs. Larsen added his second rushing TD running in from 10-yards. Ithaca tied it back up when Niznak hit Christian Marble on a 16-yard TD pass. St. Charles then went on a rushing TD flurry. Dugan Roosa ran in a 10-yard TD run followed by a Tyler Nieman 75-yard Rushing TD. The Bull Dogs led at halftime 28-14. St. Charles continued running the ball well picking up right where they left off in the first half. Nieman ran in his second rushing TD scoring on a 33-yard scamper. Twenty seconds later Niznak dashed in from 63-yards to score for the Yellow Jackets. At the end of the third quarter the Bulldogs led 34-21. In the final quarter Niznak connected with David Brown on a 64-yard bomb to get within a TD. 34-28. Larsen added his third TD of the night to give the Bulldogs breathing room with six minutes left in the game. St. Charles was able to hold Ithaca scoreless the remainder of the game for the win. Larsen led the Bulldog offense with 104-yards and 3-TDs, Nieman finished with 145-yards and 2-TDs and Roosa had 109-yards and 1-TD. Travis Crane added 95-yards and Mike Spannagel had 41-yards on the ground. Ithaca QB Niznak completed 15 of 26-passes for 207-yards and 2-TDs along with 3-interceptions, he added 105-yards and 2-TDs on the ground. Marble had 6-receptions for 90-yards and 1-TD. Brown finished with 4-receptions for 73-yards and 1-TD. St. Charles takes on Hemlock next week, while Ithaca plays Shepherd. Carrollton travels to play Bay City All-Saints. |
