Friday evening the Saginaw Township South Little League opened their season with a celebration at Rudy Zaul Park. Special guest Stuart Schweigert encouraged players to do their homework and study while praising parents’ involvement for bringing their children to participate in sports.

Afterwards the league opened with Webster, Looby, & Baumgarten defeating  Schneller - Schroeder Store Fixtures 3-1 in the Majors division.

Schweigert played T-ball through eighth grade ball at Saginaw South as a child. Schweigert said he made friends at both North and South Saginaw Township Little Leagues. Some of those friendships are still intact until this day. Schweigert sponsored one team at North and South Leagues on behalf of his foundation, the  stuscrew.
