Runners Brave Cold and Rain To Finish The 1st Annual Freeland Walleye Festival 5k Run & Walk 4-26-10

Cold, rain and wind was not enough to stop the die-hard runners from participating in the first Annual Walleye Festival 5k Run & Walk at the Freeland Sports Zone on Sunday.

Several hundred runners braved the cold and rain. The event started and finished at the Sports Zone. The run & walk was followed by a children’s fun run through the parking lot.

Matt Kaczor, 29, of Freeland was the overall winner in the 5k run, with a time of 17:27.77. Erin Senkowski, 27, also of Freeland, was the overall top female finisher in 21:38.61.

Alan Gabalis, 40, of Caro, was the top Masters winner in 18:35.72, while Bridget Scileppi, 42, of Freeland was the top female Masters winner in 22:21.28.

Rick  Huber, 53, of Montrose, was the Overall winner of the 5k walk with a time of 28:53.66. Shelly Huber, 50, also of Montrose, was the Overall female winner in 35:19.97.
