Merrill Makes Playoffs With Win Over Vestaburg 10-23-09

Merrill will be playing playoff football thanks to a 47-6 win over Vestaburg at home.

QB Nate Tack led the offense with 5-TDs, he threw 3-TDs and ran in for two more in the win.

Nate Tack started the Vandal scoring machine running for a TD , followed by a Tyler Guthrie 9-yard TD run in the first quarter.

Vestaburg kicked off the second quarter scoring on a Devare King 1-yard TD run to get within a TD. Tack answered, connecting with Guthrie on a 11-yard TD pass for a 21-6 lead. Tack followed it up throwing his second TD hitting Ryan Eggebrecht on a 30-yard TD pass. Tack finished the first half scoring, running for his second rushing TD from 10-yards out. The Vandals led at the half 34-6.

In the third quarter Tack threw his third TD, connecting with Eggebrecht again, this time for a 15-yard TD.

Kyle Mayan finished off the scoring in the fourth quarter rambling in from 10-yards for a TD.

Nick Strong and Dan Tildner led the Vandal defense with 10 and 9 tackles. Nate Tack finished the game completing 9 of 7 passes for 134-yards and 3-TDs and he ran for 126-yards and 2-TDs. Ryan Eggebrecht had 3-receptions for 50-yards and 2-TDs while Tyler Guthrie had 1-reception for 11-yards and 1-TD he also rushed for 72-yards and a TD. Paul Wood booted in 5 PATs for the Vandals.

Merrill improved to 6-3 overall and qualified for the playoffs for the fourth straight year.
