Loons Pennant Race A Fun Place To Be 4-19-10
Sunday was an amazing day at the 4th Annual Great Lakes Loons Pennant Race / Live Earth Run for Water at the Loons Stadium. Olympic Gold Medalist, Carl Lewis opened the race firing the starting gun, and then walked with the “Girls on the Run”, a non-profit prevention program encouraging preteen girls to develop self-respect and a healthy lifestyle through running. Over 1,000 runners showed up for the event, which was loaded with many booths displaying information about water. Winners of the 6k Run were (Men’s) Adam Terwillegar,16, of Freeland with a time of 21:13, and (Women’s) Stephanie Mendyk, 14, of Midland with a time of 25:40. Winners of the 6k Walk were (Men’s) Johnny Olsey, 56, of Clio with a time of 33:29, and (Women’s) Lori Lynn Short, 44, of Clio with a time of 39:42.
