Heritage Falls at Homecoming 17-10 To Bay City Western 10-16-09 Heritage lost a disappointing game to Bay City Western 17-10 on homecoming night. With a 10- lead after the first quarter the Hawks were unable to stop the Warriors and the game was tied 10-10 at halftime. The Hawks had a couple of chances near the end of the game but was unable to capitalize and win or tie the game. DeVante McDole gave the Hawks an early lead scoring on a 1-yard run, with the Brandon Brown PAT the Hawks led 7-0. With a minute and a half left in the first quarter Brown added to the lead booting in a 26-yard field goal, 10-0. The Warriors tied it up in the second quarter when Josh Alba ran in from 7-yards, Caleb Boileau kicked in a 25-yard field goal with 44 seconds left in the first half. Both teams went to the locker room at halftime with a 10-10 tie. In the third quarter Heritage committed a couple of penalties including a 15-yard face mask penalty to set the Warriors up on the eight yard line. A few plays later Boileau hit Austin Pichiotino with a 6-yard TD pass to finish the scoring. Heritage had a couple of chances to tie the game late but Hawk QB Ben Kielar was picked off in the red zone with about two minutes left in the game. On the Hawks next possession with half a minute left in the game and facing fourth down in the red zone, Kielar was unable to convert for a first down which ended the game. Hawk QB Kielar finished the game completing 13 of 23 passes for 129-yards. Lavario Smith had 5-receptions for 63-yards and Devante McDole rushed for 67-yards on 14-attempts. Tevontae Abraham led the defense with 9-tackles. With the loss Heritage falls to 3-5 overall and 3-4 in the Saginaw Valley League, with their final game next Friday at home against Flint Southwestern. Western improved to 6-2 overall and 6-1 in the SVL. With the win the Warriors qualified for the playoffs. ![]() ![]()
