Heritage Ends Football Season with a Muddy 29-0 Win 10-23-09

It rained yet again Friday night, as Heritage played its final game of the season against Flint Southwestern Academy. Despite the rain and muddy field the Hawks claimed a 29-0 victory over the Knights.

The Hawks played strong as Gabe Nicholson returned a punt, running down the sideline 40 yards for a touchdown putting Heritage on the board. Brandon Brown then scored the extra point to give Heritage a 7-0 1st quarter lead.

In the 2nd quarter, Hawks DeVante McDole ran for 13 yards to score a TD. Brown picked up the extra point bringing the score to 14-0. A few minutes later Brown kicked a field goal to score 3 giving the Hawks a 17–0 lead at the end of the quarter.

The 3rd quarter was Ben Kielar’s turn as he ran for 1 yard for a TD. The extra point was missed giving the hawks a 23-0 lead.

Scott Davis scored the last TD of the game on a 3 yard run. The extra point failed as Heritage finished the game with the win 29-0.

Other key player for Heritage were Adam Smigiel with 8 tackles, Scott Davis and Andrew Burt with 1 interception, and Brandon Hughes with 2 interception.

The Hawks outgained the Knights 250-79 in total yards

Heritage finished 4-3 in the SVL League and overall 5-4 to end the season.  There is a slight chance they can make the playoffs but unlikely.
