Freeland Smacks Down Lancers In Football 46-13 10-16-09 ![]() Freeland keeps it's playoff hopes alive with a 46-13 smack down of visiting Bullock Creek. Justin Pettenger led the Falcons to the win with 3-TDs on the night. In the first quarter Freeland’s Pettenger caught a 32 yard pass from Joe Ruhlman for the first touchdown of the game. Robert White kicked the extra point to bring the score to 7 0. 3 minutes later Pettenger scored yet again off an 82 yard punt return. White kicked the PAT again to bring the score to 14 0. With a 1:51 second left in the first quarter the Lancers got on the board with a 1 yard run by Brett Fleming. Zack Swarthout kicked the PAT to end the first quarter 14 7. The second quarter was a little slower as Freeland QB Ruhlman threw a 42 yard pass to Ryan Galbraith to score the only TD of the second quarter. White kicked the extra point to bring the score to 21-7. The third quarter picked up again, as Freeland scored on a 7 yard run from Mario Baluha. The PAT missed it’s mark to bring the score to 27-7. Three minutes later Freeland scored again with Davie Ruhlman running 15 yards for the TD. White kicked the extra point for a 347 lead. With 3:28 left in the third quarter, Pettenger rambled 91 yards for a TD. The PAT was no good to end the quarter 40 7. The fourth quarter had the Lancers getting on the board again with Jake Sommerville scoring on a 2 yard run. They tried for 2 and failed, to bring the score to 40 13. Freeland scored one last time with a 1 yard run by Skyler Williams. After a failed PAT, the final score was 46 -13. Freeland’s Dave Griffin led the defense with 21 tackles; Mario Baluha had 12 tackles and 58 yards rushing. Pettenger finished with 171 yards rushing. Bullock Creek sinks to 1-7 overall and 1-6 in the TVC Central. Freeland improves to 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the conference. Freeland hosts Bridgeport next week and the Lancers play at home against Pinconning. ![]() ![]() |
