Freeland Beats Bridgeport To Qualify For Football Playoffs 10-23-09

Freeland beats Bridgeport 55-0 to qualify for the playoffs on the last game of the season. Justin Pettenger had a big game for the Falcons scoring 5-TDs, four rushing TDs and a kickoff return for a TD. The Freeland offense rushed for 436-yards.

The Falcons didnt waste any time scoring points to secure a win. Freeland had a big first quarter with the offense, defense and special teams scoring to get an early advantage. The Falcons scored 34 points in the first quarter and followed it up with 14 more points to put the game away by halftime.

Pettenger lit up the scoreboard first with a 95-yard kickoff return for a TD. Two minutes later Pettenger followed it up with a 33-yard run for a TD. The defense got in on the action when Joe Ruhlman intercepted a pass and ran it back 33-yards for a TD. The extra point missed it's mark and Freeland led 20-0.

David Ruhlman scored for the Falcons when he ran 66-yards for a TD. Pettenger then scored his third TD of the game, this time scampering in from 80-yards to end the first quarter 34-0.

In the second quarter Pettenger scored two more rushing TDs, the first from 50-yards and the second from 39-yards. Freeland led 48-0 at the half.

Tim Murphy finished off the scoring with a 4-yard rushing TD in the third quarter.

Eric Neuenfeldt led the defense with 4-tackles and 1-interception and 1-sack.

Pettinger led the Freeland offense with 221-yards rushing and 4-rushing TDs and a interception for a TD. David Ruhlman finished with 96-yards and 1-TD. David Griffin and Mario Baluha both finished with 5-yards rushing each.

Freeland improves to 6-3 overall and managed a six game win streak to qualify for the playoffs.
