![]() Falcons Lose in District Semifinals 10-31-09 Freeland’s football season came to an end Friday night as they lost to Clare 20-25 in the District 2 Semifinals. Clare scored the first points of the game after Kris English ran in for a 3 yards and then kicked the extra point. With 3 minutes left in the quarter Clare’s Tyler Gillis ran in for 4 yards and then he again scored on a 2 point conversion to bring the score to a 0-15 Clare lead at the end of the quarter. Freeland was able to score in the second quarter with 2:22 on the clock after Dave Ruhlman ran 2 yards for the TD. Ruhlman score 2 more points on the conversion. Clare answered back with 38 seconds on the clock on a 24 yard run by Tyler Gillis. Kris English kicked the extra point ending the quarter with a 8-22 Clare lead. In the 3rd quarter Freeland broke free with 12 seconds left on the clock. Dave Ruhlman ran 2 yards for the TD, but the kick was blocked to end the quarter 14-22 Clare still in the lead. In the 4th quarter, Clare was held to a field goal kicked by Kris English. Freeland’s Mario Baluha ran 37 yards off a Clare fumble to score a TD, but failed to score on a two point conversion. The game ended with Clare winning 20-25. Freeland finished the season with a 6-4 record. Clare goes on in the District playoffs to play against Pinconning on November 6th. |
