Great cool weather and sunshine helped push the total of runners to a new record of from last years 287 runners. The event also had a new record turout or runners in the marathon, with some very ecstatic runners qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Nathan Bussier, of Saginaw easily out paced the rest of the field easily winning the 5k run while setting a new course record of 15:32. 66.
Chuck Engle, 39, of Dublin, Ohio was the overall winner of the marathon in 2:43:12.0 and Melissa Begeron, 45, of Muskegon finished tops in the womens division in 3:27:12.0. Douglas Finkbeiner, 46, of Saginaw won the wheelchair division.
David Milka, 42, of Saginaw finished first overall (1:04:16.23) in the newly added min-marathon, while Theresa Stafford, 23, of Davison won the womens division (1:34:58.94).
Christian Martin, 33, of Cadillac was the overall winner in the 20k run in 1:19:33.48 and Diane Horne, 39, of Bozeman, Montana was the top women's finisher in 1:43:35.50.
Gabriel Fall, 34, of Mayville finished first overall in the 10k run in 41:19.22, while Kayla Duke, 21, of Linden won the womens division in 43:59.0.
Saginaw resident Nathan Bussiere, 21, finished first overall in the 5k run (15:32.66) well ahead of the group smashing the old record of 17:03. Sara Lunning, 26, of Lansing finished first in the womens division (20:49.66) missing the womens mark by 10 seconds..
David Cable, 61, of Saginaw was the overall winner of the 5k walk (40.29.59), while Jane Mathews, 65, of Grand Blanc won the womens division (39:45.24).
Proceeds from the event benefit the Carrollton Education Foundation and the East Side Soup Kitchen. The Carrollton Foundation uses the funds to award scholarships annually to Carrolton students.
